Shelving - Helping You Organize Your
Life
Certainly shelving is not
the most exciting topic to talk about, but without it our
lives certainly would be a mess in a literal sense.
If not our lives then our garages, storage
sheds, pantries, basements and many other places. In fact,
we would venture to say that if you put shelving in an area
where you currently have none, you just might find yourself
getting a little excited. So where do you begin when
looking at shelving.
Well the first thing to do is
look around your home and garage. Do you see any place that
could benefit from additional shelving? What would you store on
those shelves? If it's in your house it might be books, or a
place to show off all your little knick knacks. Perhaps you
need shelving in your closet to get more organized. Do you
fumble through the closet looking for the shoes you need or the
clothes you want to wear? If so you'll be amazed at what a
difference some quality shelves will make. What about in your
kitchen pantry? A pantry is a good thing to have, but like
anything else it can be a mess if it's not organized. How about
putting in some shelves to make it easy for you to find the
utensil or canned food you are looking for.
Now let's talk about your garage, this should
really hit home with some of you. I bet there's a lot of people
reading this that can't even get their car in the garage. So
what's in the way? Garden tools? Car parts? Boxes of things you
want to keep and just need a place to store? Put up some
shelves and the next thing you know you might even be able to
use the garage for what it was intended. Imagine putting your
car back in the garage and still being able to quickly find the
tool you are looking for.
The same is true in your basement. Lots of
people use their basement for storage. The result is a bunch of
boxes piled up on the floor, perhaps getting ruined from
moisture. Put up some shelves and these items will remain safe
and out of the way.
There are plenty more areas of your live that
could benefit from the organization some shelving can provide.
We won't go into them here but all you need to do is look
around and you'll be able to figure it out soon enough.
So you know you need shelving, but what kind do
you get? Well that depends on what you need to store. If they
are in your house you probably want them to look nice. You may
even be able to build your own wood shelves. If not, it's easy
to find an inexpensive and quality contractor to help. If you
want to save some money you can even get some used shelving.
Often times this is just as good as new.
If your shelving is in the garage, basement or
storage building, the kind of shelving you get really depends
on what you need to store on them. Certainly wire shelving is
worth looking into for some things, but steel shelving and
industrial shelving is great for storing the really heavy
stuff. Especially if you need something that will last a long
time. You can store heavy car parts or garden equipment on
these shelves and never have to worry about them coming down
and damaging your items.
Take a look around at the different kinds of
shelving available, decide where you need the help, and start
to organize your life.
